We all know that the holidays can be stressful. So while you are rushing around to finish your Christmas shopping, bake cookies for your neighbors, get in those fourth-quarter numbers at work and prepare for the onslaught of family time, it’s important to take time for yourself and de-stress. In fact, recent studies have shown that women are less happy today than we’ve been in the last 40 years. Perhaps we need some “me” time. So here are 5 me time ideas to take time for yourself, especially during the holiday season:
A day at the spa doesn’t have to be expensive. The Dating Divas show us that a home spa day with some candles and (of course!) some chocolate is a cost-effective way to take time for yourself.
The holidays are all about celebrating the simple things in life. So what can be easier than taking 10 minutes with a hot cup of coffee (or hot chocolate) and your favorite magazine. Bright and Beautiful tells us that’s exactly what she’s planning on doing during a busy holiday weekend.
Don’t sweat from the stress of the holidays. Sweat from kicking some butt and get moving by working out. Our friend Sara Haley (and former Why Not Girl! of the Week) shares what keeps her motivated to workout during the holidays on her new website The Daily Sweat.
Kill two calling birds with one stone (like that pun there?) by giving your hair a great blow out and look great for your office holiday party. But before you run out to that trendy new blow dry salon, take some tips from The Londoner and try it yourself. It may not be as hard as you think.
Unplug. Take the next week to step away from unnecessary email, constant social media updates and that Candy Crush obsession by stepping away from electronics. Inspired by this find from DESIGNIndulgences and The Huffington Post’s Unplugging Challenge, I’m unplugging next week for the holidays. Can I say, “Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.”
